SENIOR SCHOOL | Update

Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends

As we come to the end of Term 2, I would like to acknowledge what has been a really productive and positive term across our Senior Campus. Over the past few weeks, our Year 12 Assessment Week, Year 11 Exams, and the General Achievement Test (GAT) have provided important opportunities for our students to demonstrate their learning while also building their capacity to perform under pressure.

These experiences are about much more than assessment. They are an important part of developing the habits, routines and resilience required for success. They provide students with the opportunity to practise effective study and revision strategies, to experience exam conditions, and to better understand themselves as learners. This is a strong reflection of our pillars of Excellence and Aspiration. Excellence at Frankston High School is not about perfect outcomes, but effort, growth and a willingness to do difficult things to the best of our ability.

We have been extremely impressed with the way our students approached this period. The feedback from staff and external supervisors was overwhelmingly positive, particularly in relation to the maturity, focus and respect demonstrated by our students. This is a credit to them and to the strong culture that exists within our Senior School.

A period like this is always a significant team effort, and I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our staff. The Senior School team, led by Ms Brittany Harvey and Ms Leanne Milne, along with Ms Victoria Stewart, Mr Pat Mooney, Ms Wendy Goodman and Mr Shaun Hawker, have done an exceptional job in leading and supporting students through a complex and demanding time.

I would also like to thank our teaching staff for their preparation, supervision, marking and ongoing support of students, often alongside a disrupted program. In addition, the work of our Administration, IT, Facilities, Wellbeing and Inclusion teams ensures that these programs run smoothly and that every student is supported to achieve their best. It is a genuine whole-school effort, and one that reflects the strength of our community.

As we look ahead to Term 3, we continue to reinforce our high expectations across the Senior Campus. This includes a strong focus on uniform, punctuality, and students remaining on site and using their study periods effectively. These expectations are not simply about compliance, but reflect the pride we have in our school and the standards we know our students are capable of meeting. When students consistently demonstrate Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy, they contribute to a positive and purposeful learning environment for all.

Next term, there will be a significant focus on Subject and Course Selection, with all students in Years 8–11 selecting their 2027 subjects and programs. Students will be supported through career exploration activities in their Optima sessions, along with a range of key events and resources designed to assist students and families in making informed decisions. Choosing subjects is an important process, and we encourage students to reflect on their interests, strengths, goals and future aspirations. We look forward to working alongside families to support every student in selecting pathways that challenge, engage and inspire them. Please see the SUBJECT SELECTION | Timeline tab for the important dates and events for current Year 11 students to support this process.

We are also looking forward to upcoming events, including the Year 12 Formal on Friday 17 July, which is always a highlight and a wonderful opportunity for students to come together and celebrate.

Term 2 can often be a challenging time, particularly for our senior students, and I would like to thank our families for their ongoing support and partnership. Working together, we are able to both support and challenge our young people to reach their full potential.

As we head into the break, I hope all members of our community have the opportunity to rest, recharge and spend time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another positive and purposeful term.

Thank you for your continued support of our Senior School.
