JUNIOR SCHOOL | Update

Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends
As we reach the end of Term 2, I would like to acknowledge and celebrate the many achievements, experiences and successes of our Junior School students. It has been a term filled with opportunities for students to learn, connect, challenge themselves, and contribute positively to our school community.
Throughout the term, students have participated in a diverse range of activities including Athletics Day, Cross Country, ANZAC Day assemblies, interschool sports, IDAHOBIT Day, Casual Clothes Day, the Year 8 Rubicon Camp, Year 7 Drama incursions, Year 8 Escape Room workshops and Mary Poppins production rehearsals. These experiences provide valuable opportunities for students to develop confidence, build relationships, pursue personal excellence, and discover new strengths beyond the classroom. By supporting students to embrace challenges and learn from new experiences, we continue to foster a collaborative community where every student is supported to achieve their full potential.
Our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy have been evident in the way students have approached the term. Whether persevering through the physical and mental challenges of Rubicon Camp, demonstrating teamwork and sportsmanship on the sporting field, showing respect during ANZAC Day commemorations, or celebrating diversity and inclusion through IDAHOBIT Day, students have continued to represent Frankston High School with pride.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our dedicated Junior School team for their unwavering commitment to supporting our Year 7 and Year 8 students. Thank you to Ms Sam Cody (Head of Year 7), Ms Hannah Martin (Head of Year 8), Ms Melody Westlake and Ms Holly Quinn (Year 7 Coordinators), Mr Will Whitelaw and Mr Josh Metherell (Year 8 Coordinators), and Mrs Lorelle Leith (Administration Support). Their care, professionalism, and dedication play a vital role in ensuring our students feel supported, connected, and challenged to achieve their best each day. The positive culture and strong sense of belonging within the Junior School are a testament to their ongoing work with students and families.
We encourage parents and carers to contact any member of the Junior School team if they have questions, concerns, or need support. We value open, respectful communication and strong partnerships with families in supporting every student’s learning and wellbeing.
Thank you to our dedicated staff and supportive families for the important role you play in helping our students succeed. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break and look forward to another rewarding term ahead.

Cyber Safety Project Student Sessions and Parent Information Evening
As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing and online safety, we are excited to welcome the Cyber Safety Project to our school in Term 3.
On Wednesday 2 September, Junior School students will participate in engaging and age-appropriate cyber safety presentations delivered by specialist educators. These sessions focus on helping young people develop safe, responsible and positive digital habits, while building their understanding of online safety and digital wellbeing.
We will also be hosting a Parent Information Evening on the same day. This session will provide practical advice and strategies to help families navigate the digital world, including topics such as social media, gaming, screen time, online safety, privacy and supporting positive digital wellbeing at home.
Further details, including session times and registration information, will be shared early next term. In the meantime, parents and carers can learn more about the Cyber Safety Project via Cyber Safety Project.
Subject and Course Selection | Preparing for 2027
Next term, there will be a significant focus on Subject and Course Selection, with all students in Years 8–11 selecting their 2027 subjects and programs.
Students will be supported through career exploration activities in their Optima sessions, along with a range of key events and resources designed to assist students and families in making informed decisions.
Choosing subjects is an important process, and we encourage students to reflect on their interests, strengths, goals and future aspirations. We look forward to working alongside families to support every student in selecting pathways that challenge, engage and inspire them.
Please see the SUBJECT SELECTION | Timeline tab for the important dates and events for Year 8 students to support this process.
