VCE Music Soirées 

Each semester our VCE Music students come together and put on a concert for family and friends in the Music Centre. Year 11 Students put on their first Soiree earlier this month and did an amazing job. Year 12 students also put on a fantastic Soirée this week. 

These performances provide an opportunity for our VCE students to present challenging solo works they have been working on all semester and provide invaluable experience as they build up towards their final performance exam.

Congratulations to all students involved and congratulations to Ms Laughlin and Mr Spicer for all their hard work organising these events. 

Navy Band Visit

We had to reschedule a couple of times but it was definitely worth it as the Royal Australian Navy Bandput on an incredible concert for our students. The Navy Band is one of the best Concert Bands in Australia and allows students to see professional musicians playing the instruments they are studying in a huge range of styles. The concert was a lot of fun including famous movie themes, songs from musicals as well as traditional navy music and concert band repertoire. Middle School students also got to participate in workshops after the concert as well as the Navy Band singers working with our choir.

Thank you to the Navy Band for giving their time and putting on such a fantastic event for the third year in a row. Also thanks to the Office and Music teams for helping put on what is a big event at the end of a busy Term 2.

Blackburn High School Percussion Day 

This week Blackburn High School hosted their first ever Percussion Day. Frankston High School students represented the school with two groups. Students performed their pieces in groups and then worked with a number of Percussion teachers on stage. Later in the afternoon students learnt new pieces together with students from other schools.

Thank you to Simon Dewar from Blackburn Highschool for his hard work in organising this great event.
