Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends
Examinations and SACs
Students in Years 9 to 12 have recently undertaken examinations/school assessed coursework (SACs) to assess their learning progress this semester. These are a great opportunity to reflect on student growth and our teaching and learning programs. Thank you to our Learning Area Leaders and Sub School Teams for their efforts overseeing these important learning opportunities. We also recently had the VCAA GAT exams for all students undertaking a Unit 3 and 4 subject. Thank you to our Senior School Team for their efforts overseeing this.
Production | Mary Poppins
We are excited and looking forward to our Production of Chicago with opening night on Thursday 7 August in our Performing Arts Theatre. Our dedicated Production staff have been extremely busy preparing our talented students for what promises to be another amazing show. I hope you can join us for one of the four shows.
Aerobics
On Sunday 7 June Frankston High School had 42 students compete at the Sport Aerobics State Championships. Competing in nine routines, the students did a fantastic job. They performed to a very high standard and cheered each other on. Competing against the top competitors in the state, Frankston High School came away with five gold, one silver and one bronze medal with seven teams qualifying for the Nationals competition in September. Well done to our incredible students supported by our coaches and staff Ms Genevieve Donovan and Mrs Cindy Bryant.
Attitudes to School Survey
Thank you to Ms Tiffany Greenhill, Ms Leah Hannas, Mr Cam Heyes, our Optima teachers and our Sub School Teams for overseeing and running the 2026 Student Attitudes to School Survey. This is very important in gaining student voice and feedback as to what we are doing well and further areas of improvement. We look forward to unpacking these results when we have them later this year.
Year 11 Formal
Congratulations to all the Year 11 students who attended the Formal on Thursday 18 June at Mornington Racecourse. Thank you to the Ms Leanne Milne, Ms Wendy Goodman, Mr Shaun Hawker, Mr Cam Heyes and the Senior School Team for all of their work behind the scenes and a very big thank you to staff who volunteered their time to help with supervision on the night.
Year 10 Work Experience
Our Year 10 students began their Work Experience on Monday 22 June. This valuable opportunity allows them to gain real-world insight into various industries, explore potential career pathways, and develop a deeper understanding of how businesses and organisations operate. Work Experience is a significant step in helping students connect their learning to future aspirations and build essential workplace skills. Thank you to our Careers Team and Year 10 Team for supporting our students with their Work Experience.
Year 9 Upskills Week
Our Year 9 students have participated in various sessions over three days this week (Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 June) including a City Experience Excursion, Courage to Care workshop, Speak and Share session, hearing from recent Alumni about their post-school pathways and experiences, and panel discussions with our current Year 12 students. Thank you to Ms Paige Jessulat and Ms Jasmine Rabinov for their leadership of this week.
Road Safety Reminder
The safety of our students is a priority, and we are asking families to reinforce safe road behaviours with their children.
Recently, we have observed a number of students crossing roads without checking for traffic, walking in front of moving vehicles, and being distracted by mobile phones while travelling to and from school. These behaviours significantly increase the risk of serious injury.
We have also noticed students riding bicycles without helmets. Wearing an approved helmet is a legal requirement and is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of head injuries in the event of an accident.
In addition, families are reminded that students are not permitted to travel to and from school on e-scooters or e-bikes. These devices present significant safety concerns, particularly in busy school environments, and are not permitted under school expectations.
We encourage all students to:
- Stay alert and avoid using mobile phones when crossing roads.
- Stop, look, and listen before stepping onto the road.
- Use designated crossings wherever possible.
- Wear a correctly fitted helmet when riding a bicycle.
- Follow all road safety rules and school expectations when travelling to and from school.
We appreciate the support of families in reinforcing these important messages. By working together, we can help ensure all students travel safely to and from school each day.
Respectful Partnerships in Our School Community
At Frankston High School, we value the strong partnership between students, families and staff. When we work together with mutual respect, trust and open communication, we create the best possible environment for our young people to learn, grow and thrive.
The Victorian Department of Education's Respectful Behaviours within the School Community Policy highlights that every member of the school community has a shared responsibility to contribute to a safe, inclusive and respectful environment. Research consistently shows that students achieve better outcomes and experience a stronger sense of belonging when families and schools work collaboratively.
We ask all members of our community to model the behaviours we seek to develop in our students by:
- Communicating respectfully and constructively with staff, students and other families.
- Working collaboratively with the school to support student learning and wellbeing.
- Raising concerns through the appropriate channels and in a respectful manner.
- Demonstrating kindness, patience and understanding in all interactions, including online communication.
We recognise that there will be times when concerns or questions arise. We welcome feedback and are committed to working with families to address concerns professionally and respectfully. By approaching conversations with a shared focus on achieving the best outcomes for our young people, we can maintain the positive relationships that underpin a strong school community.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us foster a culture of respect, inclusion and partnership. Together, we can ensure Frankston High School remains a place where every student, family member and staff member feels valued, safe and supported.
