Assistant Principal Report

The Term Draws to a Close

It has been a busy and rewarding term at Scoresby Secondary College, filled with many valuable learning opportunities and a wide range of extracurricular activities for our students.

One of the highlights for me continues to be visiting classrooms across the college. It is always a pleasure to see students engaged in their learning within calm, positive, and purposeful environments. These everyday moments reflect the strong teaching and learning culture we are building together.

A real talking point this term was the Staff vs Student soccer event, with staff claiming a convincing victory over the students! Events like these are a wonderful way to strengthen our school community and foster positive relationships.

We have also seen the continuation of exciting initiatives across the college. Our Hands-On Learning program has been particularly impressive, with students developing practical trade skills. I was especially pleased to observe the high level of engagement and expertise demonstrated during a recent plumbing session.

Separately, we were proud to highlight our High Achiever Program – SOAR. Students undertook a rigorous selection process, including HAST testing and interviews. We thank all students who applied, with successful applicants announced on 2 April.

We concluded the term with another outstanding assembly, showcasing the incredible talent within our college. I am so proud to see so many students eager to participate in assemblies, building their confidence and personal growth.

Looking ahead, I am excited to announce a ski camp taking place from 27–29 July for Year 10–12 students. More information will be shared soon.

Learning Conferences will take place on Thursday 30 April, from 12:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Student are only required to attend with their parent /cerer for the meeting. These conferences are a valuable opportunity for students, parents, and teachers to discuss learning progress, set goals, and celebrate achievements. We encourage all families to book a time to participate.

I wish all students, staff, and families a safe and restful Easter break.
