I am very thrilled to say we are full steam ahead with the School Production of Peter Pan. Our cast started busily rehearsing two weeks ago with a sense of nervousness and excitement. Our rehearsal room (the student centre) , is a space caught between yesterday’s echoes and tomorrow’s possibilities smelled faintly of the magic we were about to unleash.

Starting rehearsals is always a peculiar kind of beginning. There are no costumes yet, no lights, —only words on paper and the fragile beginnings of belief. We began with a read-through.

At first, the lines felt tentative, like stepping stones across an unfamiliar river. Peter’s confidence was still finding its rhythm, Wendy’s warmth was just beginning to glow, and Captain Hook’s menace hovered somewhere between playful and sharp. But even in those early moments, something unmistakable stirred. The story, though not yet fully formed, has started to breathe.

Peter Pan is a lovely story but it also underpins a deeper theme: the tension between growing up and holding onto your childhood. By the end of the first rehearsal, we had collectively taken the first step into Neverland. There was still a long journey ahead—weeks of refining, adjusting, and building—but the foundation had been laid. And in that rehearsal room, with its bare walls and scattered chairs, Neverland had quietly begun to take shape.

We are hoping to present this wonderful play on Thursday September 10 and Friday September 11 7pm. Tickets will be in sale Term 2, so watch this space.
