Principal's Report

Final day of Term 1

As we approach the final few days of term 1 for 2026, I reflect fondly on the great work that our staff have done to support, encourage, and scaffold the learning for every student from year 7 to year 12.

Our selection process for the high achiever’s program SOAR, for those students who are truly academically gifted and require significant challenge and extension, has reached conclusion with successful students identified.

The camps program continues to broaden with the introduction of a Ski Camp to Mt Buller in July. Year 7 camp was highly successful at Portsea, and another peninsula camp has been booked to aid year 7 transition for week 4 of 2027.  City experience has broadened to include an overnight stay and year 12 camp was extended to two nights.

Lunchtime activities continue to broaden, ranging from passive activities to vigorous teacher versus student matches.  Last Thursday, our teachers, aided by a preservice teacher, were narrowly victorious over students during a lunch time indoor soccer match; that drew a very large student and teacher audience.

On Thursday 2 April, the college finished the term with a colour run.  A fund-raising exercise to purchase improved classroom furniture, as nominated by students. So far, $3000 has been raised by students, with the college supplementing to ensure that several classrooms are well furnished. School facilities continue to be repaired and improved, with a re carpeting program being carried during the school holidays.

I’d like to make special mention to Mr Andy Bisset and Mr Gary Davies for the many years that they have served our community by being on school council.  Their service and support have been invaluable and although their children are no longer at school, they are welcome as community members, should they wish.

I welcome new council members, Mrs Suzie Kladis and  Mrs Mel Murphy as parent representatives, Mr George Wardle as a new staff member, and Bek Howarth as one of our student representatives.

I wish all a very happy and safe Easter.
