Supporting Every Student: Wellbeing at Scoresby Secondary College

At Scoresby Secondary College, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

Our dedicated Wellbeing space provides a safe, supportive environment where students can access the care and assistance, they need to thrive both academically and personally.

The Wellbeing space is a welcoming area designed for students who may need someone to talk to or simply a quiet moment to reset.

Whether a student is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing challenges, or just needs time out from the classroom, they are encouraged to visit and connect with a member of our experienced Wellbeing team. Staff are available to listen, provide guidance, and support students in developing strategies to manage their wellbeing.

In addition to emotional and social support, the Wellbeing space also offers practical assistance for students and families. Emergency food supplies are available for those who may be experiencing difficulty organising lunches. This ensures that all students have access to basic needs, helping them stay focused, energised, and ready to learn throughout the day.

The Wellbeing Team also plays an active role in the school’s Wednesday Learning Mentor Program, working collaboratively to design and deliver lessons that support student wellbeing from Year 7 through to Year 10. These sessions focus on building practical skills and resilience, including strategies to manage the demands of school life, make positive and informed choices, and develop a strong understanding of personal values.

Students are also guided in setting and working towards SMART goals, supporting both their academic progress and their personal and social development. Through these structured and supportive lessons, students are empowered to take ownership of their growth and build the confidence and skills needed for success both inside and outside the classroom.

Our Wellbeing services reflect the school’s strong commitment to fostering a caring and inclusive community. By providing both a supportive space and essential resources, along with targeted learning opportunities, Scoresby Secondary College aims to ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and supported in their educational journey.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all families of our school community a safe and restful Easter. We look forward to seeing our students return in Term 2.
