Junior School Report

Junior School Buzz
Term 1 has seen the Junior School buzzing with lots of exciting events that promote connectedness to school, including excursions, Harmony Day, Year 7 Camp, and our inaugural Colour Run to raise money towards improving resources for engagement and learning. Congratulations to Michael K, Neel V, and Keeley for winning spot prizes for their fundraising efforts.
Year 7 Camp at Portsea provided students with new learning, personal challenges, and teamwork, all designed to build connectedness to school.
Year 7 Transition Camp: An Unforgettable Adventure at Portsea
The Year 7 Camp at The Portsea Camp was filled with energy, laughter, and a real buzz of excitement from the moment we met together here at school until we arrived back again. Even though Tuesday brought a steady drizzle, the weather didn’t dampen our spirits; every planned activity went ahead, and the enthusiasm never waned.
Throughout the camp, students threw themselves into a range of exciting activities, from conquering the flying fox and giant swing to experiencing kayaking and snorkelling. Many students were able to step, swing, or swim outside their safety zone and attempt activities that were scary to them or something they had never tried before.
Creativity and teamwork shone during hut building, although some did not really survive the ‘weather test’, while Ultimate Frisbee and the Point Nepean Walk kept everyone active and engaged. Evenings were just as lively, with a campfire and a trivia/movie night adding to the fun.
The food was delicious, and the friendly camp staff made everyone feel welcome. One of the staff’s highlights was simply relaxing and watching the boats glide past, a perfect way to wind down after busy days of adventure.
This was a great way to complement the start of secondary school life, full of friendship, laughter, and new experiences that will be remembered for years to come.
We look forward to the upcoming Year 8 and Year 9 camps.
Our Junior School assemblies this term have focused on the school values of Excellence, Responsibility, and Respect, with Nathan Blackwell taking home the most recent award for the Green Chronicles.
Reminders for Term 2
- As we move into the colder months, students are reminded to wear the correct school jacket. Hoodies are not part of the school uniform.
- Students should ensure they are organised with their equipment and ready for class.
Common Assessment Tasks (CATs) will continue as we move towards the Semester Report period.
We wish students and families a restful break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back ready to learn in Term 2.
