MATHEMATICS

In 2021, Teachers, Students and Parent’s have faced many challenges with learning Mathematics with a number of transitions to and from Remote and Flexible Learning. I would like to take this opportunity to firstly thank each and everyone of you for your patience and support over another Covid influenced academic year. This did not stop the Mathematics Domain at Korumburra Secondary College with a number of engaging activities, tasks and competitions still being accessible to our students.

In May we had 30+ students take part in the Melbourne University Maths Competition. This competition has been in existence for nearly 50 years and a competition that is of a demanding standard, designed to identify real mathematical talent. I would like to congratulate all of the students that participated in this competition and say how proud I am of you for representing our school in such a positive way.

Likeability class groups across year 7-10 continued in 2021 with great success. We saw a number of students achieving growth across all different classes. The Maths Domain saw students becoming leaders in their class, students moving up a class and students showing growth in their mathematical understanding.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Mathematics Department, the KSC staff and most of all the students for welcoming me to the school. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and cannot wait to continue helping our students to develop their understanding of Mathematics in 2022.
