YEAR 11 RECAP
Our fantastic Year 11’s have once again displayed exceptional resilience to complete another year that didn’t turn out quite like they would have wanted.
They made a very positive start, attending a Reach program focussed on thinking about the future. The students were energised by this session and delighted in sharing that not everyone has a clear idea of what life after school might look like.
Our Outdoor Ed students attended a camp at Wilson’s Prom (between lockdowns!) that was unfortunately thwarted by torrential rain. The wild seas and strong winds made for some fun surfing conditions, and although cut short, the camp was enjoyed by all.
VCAL headed to the Melbourne Zoo for an educational session as well as hitting the waves for some fun times at the beach. They also hosted an excellent casual dress day that raised money for Breast Cancer Awareness.
The GAT was rescheduled what felt like forty four times; however by the time they sat it, all our Year 11s completing Year 12 subjects impressed with their dedication.
Unfortunately, Term 3 was filled with remote learning; however the students took this in their stride and still managed to achieve good results on all their assessment tasks.
We rounded out the year with two excellent presentations; Reach returned to assist the students in breaking down social barriers and uniting as a group as they head into their final year of school, and Beau Vernon, a local motivational speaker, who came to present on grit, resilience and how to maintain a positive mindset. Thanks to the Salvation Army for their generous donation to allow these presentations to happen.
Congratulations to our newly appointed School Captains; Aaliyah Trevethan and Katie Cronin, and Vice Captains Finlay Crawford and Jazmine Findlay. Well done to all the applicants in what was a high quality field. We look forward to seeing your leadership develop over the next 12 months.
See you all in 2022!
