YEAR 8
YEAR 8
To all the year 8 students ... well done on completing the year! We did get to start with the usual celebrations of athletics days, sporting events and other activities, so well done to everyone who participated. Again, we saw year 8 students show great self-motivation and growth in both their independent learning skills and collaboration during remote learning. In ACE, they began exploring the skills that will be useful when investigating career pathways. Students took great pride in applying the qualities and values from the Respectful Relationships program. Unfortunately, the Waratah Beach Camp could not be held this year, so I’m sure students will take up every opportunity available next year.
Broadening Horizons started a little later this year, due to remote learning. Despite shorter time to work on their inquiries, we saw the year 8s step up and develop real world work-place skills of team work, collaboration, communication, inquiring and problem solving with the investigations offered by Milpara Community House, RACE, Interchange and South Gippsland Shire Council. The presentation day was a real highlight for all involved. Great work!
A big thank you to the year 8 mentors for all their fantastic work supporting the students through their work as both Maths teachers and as mentors. 2021 – Mr Santilli,
Ms Coleman, Mr Mahoney, Ms Schwartz and Mr Wilson.
