Meet the Captain

Magdeburg House

60 Seconds With . . . Darcy Eyre

With all her involvement in the Arts as well as her House, it's no wonder Magdeburg Captain Darcy Eyre finds it hard to pinpoint her favourite moment.

SNC highlight?

It’s incredibly difficult to pin-point a favourite highlight from my time here at St Norbert. I’ve had the best opportunities here to be involved in so many different extracurriculars such as the performing arts, some sporting events and multiple academic excursions. I’d have to say a stand-out memory would be my time in the music and dance departments. Taking part in dance nights, College production, being a hip-hop crew co-captain and my time in the music classes, and partaking in the SoNiC music festival where I sang and played the drums.

Most thankful for?

I’m most thankful for my brother Curtis, who is an alumni of St Norbert and a former Magdeburg vice-captain. He has supported me unconditionally and shown up to every event throughout my whole schooling journey. He is the most uplifting and supportive person you will ever meet.

One piece of advice for fellow students?

Don't stress about the future too much. There’s an awful lot of pressure for us to know what we’re doing in life before we even get to live it a little. Just take classes that make you happy, stay present and don’t be afraid to make changes if you are unhappy.

Fellow student most likely to be famous?

Magdeburg chair person and my best friend, Isabella Hulm. Isabella is astronomically smart and has incredible career aspirations. Despite her future plans however, she has already accomplished so much such as her Anzac tour expeirence and I am so excited to see all that she achieves in the future.

Most influential teacher?

Personally, Mr McGoorty was my most influential teacher. He always encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and become better than I was. As well, he is a friend to his students and looks out for them.

One word to describe you?

Flamboyant.

Most inspiring St Norbert College student?

For me that would be former St Norbert student, Mrs Lucas, who was also House Captain and somehow manages to make everyone she crosses paths with smile each day.
