WHAT'S cooking in your kitchen over Easter? The College kitchen is always busy preparing a range of recipes to upskill students in their preparation and knowledge of food. But sometimes, depending on the season, it’s just about preparing food that everyone loves. With this in mind we share with you the following recipes that we hope inspire you to cook delicious food with those you love for Easter.
The Year 10s loved the Molasses Baked Beans on Sour Dough with Poached Eggs and its perfect start the morning, especially as the weather cools down.
The Year 9s practised their knife skills and learnt to make a roux, the basis of a hearty Vegetable Macaroni Bake. For those who want to add some protein a can of drained chickpeas or tuna will boost the nutritional content while keeping it a budget friendly meal.
The Year 8s made Corn & Zucchini Fritters and the most delicious Apple Crumble Slice as they focused on basic food commodities.
All years have finished the term with Chocolate Surprise Muffins, the surprise being whatever chocolate they find in the middle. We use caramel filled Rollo chocolates at school but peppermint or Turkish delight are just as good.
Good Friday means three things in my home . . . more fish, more veg and homemade hot cross buns. This year I have a fancy recipe for Fish Tacos and the hot cross buns, well, that’s just a given. So that’s what is cooking in my kitchen this Easter.
I’d love to know what you have planned.
