The BellBird Dell

On Tuesday 12th September, the Planet Savers and Sustainability Leaders are invited to enjoy a walk to the nearby Bellbird Dell. Guided walks by a Friends of the Dell volunteer and a Whitehorse Council Education Officer will show students the spring time activity in the native flora and fauna in the Dell. Please look out for a notice with more details, together with a request for parent volunteers to accompany us on the day, which will be coming home soon.

Maroondah Schools Citizen Science Event

Planting Seeds - a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to environmental protection and sustainable education, is running the following event on Saturday 2nd September. The details are below.

 

Maroondah schools – teachers, students and families – are invited to participate in a special National Biodiversity Month event in September to help local plants, birds, insects and other species survive and thrive.

 

Plant, insect and citizen science experts will help identify local flora and fauna species and guide participants on a bug and biodiversity quest. Learn how to take observations of local species, find out what they are, and how you can upload observations to biodiversity databases including iNaturalist, a free citizen science app! 

 

There will be special prizes for young biodiversity warriors. 

 

Deep dive into local plants, birds, bees and the 'how to' of citizen science.
