TIPS FOR DADS AND FATHER FIGURES

(From The Fathering Project)

Play is a game changer when it comes to your kids. When dads play with their kids it not only builds connection, it impacts their social, emotional and cognitive development.

Younger children especially benefit from playing with their dads - whether it's role play, rough and tumble play, games or activities - it all counts. Whether you have returned to work, or still have time off for the school holidays. We encourage you to make play a priority!

Things to think about....

1. Have quiet time. Quiet time allows children to be more imaginative and creative with their play.

2. Turn off screens. This provides the opportunity for your children to be more creative with their play, without any distractions.

3. Take part in role play. Role play helps children to explore the world around them. Get involved - showing your curiosity, imagination and creative thinking will encourage your child to do the same.
