Friday Night Rugby is Back!

Boys Rugby kicked off last Friday, 7 August.

Girls Rugby kicks off this Friday, 14 August.

RESULTS ROUNDUP:

 

Under 14s: Armidale 41 v Farrer Gold 0

Friday 7th @ Tamworth Magpies Park. 

An early try by ASC's Henry Blackwell set the tone for this emphatic victory for the combined team of boys from ASC/OCC. Lucas Thornton (Yr 8) put in a powerhouse performance scoring four tries against the boarding school from Tamworth. 

  • Coach’s Comment: The boys from ASC played with a great attitude and put in a tremendous effort. We are all pumped for the season ahead and look forward to testing ourselves against the more famous rugby schools in our zone.

Under 16s: Armidale 53 v TAS 16C 0 

Friday 7th @ Sport UNE.

From the first whistle the ASC/OCC boys dominated every facet of the match. Makai Griffiths (ASC Yr10) was dominant in the middle allowing the Armidale backs to run in unanswered tries.

  • Coach’s Comment: All the ASC boys played well tonight and and many were outstanding.

Under 16s: Armidale 7 v TAS 16A 25

Tuesday 4th @ TAS Armidale.

ASC/OCC competed well against their better drilled opponents by dominating large sections of the game. Jake Whitehill ( ASC Yr10) controlled the Armidale attack and defense and led the team well around the park.

  • Coach’s Comment: We have had one training session together as opposed to years of practice together. I am confident that we can defeat TAS’s U16As later in the season when we have played more together as a team and learnt more of the finer necessities required in Rugby Union.

Under 18s: Armidale 0 v TAS 1st XV 44

Friday 7th, Sport UNE 

ASC looked impressive at times but it had no answer for the TAS teams’ greater experience in rugby breaking down the Armidale defence out wide.

 

GIRLS RUGBY 7s:

 

Training has begun during Wednesday afternoon sport for our under 14s and under 16s girls teams. Contact Mr Walker if you know someone who would like to play. The first match will be played at Sport UNE on the night of Friday, 14 August.
