We encourage our parent and student community to keep up-to-date of career-related events (university/TAFE/closing dates/etc) by taking a look at the ASC Careers Calendar.  The option to sign up for email alerts of events on the school calendar is also available.

Information on VET Pathways

The Skills and Thrills Parent Digital Showcase is a free 20-minute online video created by SkillsOne to highlight vocational education and training (VET) options available to students. It provides information for parents to assist their children as they consider their career choices, including success stories from students who have pursued these options.

 

Topics covered in the video include:

  • apprenticeships & traineeships
  • TAFE/private training providers
  • industry trends
  • Covid-19 impacts on industry
  • funding options available
  • school-delivered VET/SBATs/EVET
  • resources and support services.

Parents will be able to access the video from 10 August - 4 September by pre-registering their interest to receive viewing information and updates.


ABCN Accelerate Scholarships

Applications for 2020 ABCN Scholarships are now open to Year 10 students (Australian citizens or Permanent Residents). The scholarship provides mentoring and financial support to exceptional students who are facing economic, family or social challenges that impact on their study or capacity to achieve their desired tertiary pathway. Scholarships awarded in 2020 are for years 2021-2023.

 

Successful applicants receive $7,000 across 3 years: Year 11, Year 12, and the first year of further education/training. These funds can be used to cover any fees or costs associated with education eg, computing resources, books and study aids, tuition and course costs, uniforms and transport.

 

Scholarship recipients also have their own dedicated mentor from an extensive network of corporate partners who assist them in setting goals and developing valuable workplace skills. 

 

Deadline for applications is Friday 14 August 2020, and must be made by the school on behalf of the student. Therefore please see Mrs Hardman ASAP if you are interested in more information!
