Year 10 Work Experience

Year 10 Work Experience – Week 2, Term 2

Work Experience Week commenced for our year 10’s in week 2 with approximately 170 of our cohort venturing into the community to learn firsthand what it is like to enter the workforce. Whether these placements were related to their career aspirations, goals of obtaining a part time job or just hoping to get more of an experience in a different learning environment, the feedback we received from students, employers and supervising teachers has been overwhelmingly positive.

Students travelled far and wide to gain their experience in various industries ranging from:

  • Landscaping
  • Retail
  • Australian Defence Force
  • Local MP / Politics
  • Education and Childcare
  • Automotive/Manufacturing
  • Various Trades
  • Sport coaching/PT/Health sciences
  • Engineering
  • Food/Hospitality/Events
  • VET sciences / Equestrian stables

Visiting teachers, PLP teachers and myself are extremely  proud of how our students conducted themselves whilst on work experience and the resourcefulness and maturity that was demonstrated by students who sourced their own placements.

A number of students have commented on how valuable they found the experience and how it has helped shaped decision making for the future and helped them understand the world of work. Many are thinking of their future pathways and are already being proactive in looking at various subjects, University options and VET courses available to them.

We sincerely thank the efforts of the Personal Learning Plan (PLP) staff and support staff that supported our students in obtaining work experience venues, year 10 teaching staff for visiting our students in the field, and of course all the businesses who took our students on board. Without these contributions, Work Experience for 2023 would not have been the success it was.
