Year 10 Outdoor Education Rock Climbing

Mr Peter Vowles, Outdoor Education Teacher

On Thursday 18 May our class went rock climbing at Morialta Conservation Park. The students had been practicing double figure eight knot tying and belay techniques in the weeks leading up to the excursion to maximise their time climbing and to ensure safety. As part of their planning students familiarised themselves with the equipment we would be using and some climbing techniques that would help us be successful.

Arriving at the cliff and seeing the ropes set up, realising a 20 metre vertical climb was about to take place was met with a mixture of excitement and fear. With working together and classmates trusting and encouraging each other, everyone experienced a successful day. It was definitely an extraordinary experience in a beautiful natural environment. Students overcame challenges together, demonstrated resilience and created positive p

ersonal and group memories.
