On Monday 29 August, our senior boys made their way to Jells Park to compete in the State Netball Championships.
Our first match was against Swan Hill College. The team played well, with every player having a significant impact on the court. The final score after our first win was 22-7.
After a lengthy break, we were up against Gilson Secondary College. The team tested our ability, going goal-for-goal throughout the match. After a couple of adaptations to our line up, we managed to grasp our second win, 19-15.
Our last match for the initial stages of the competition was against Cathedral College Wangaratta. They were no match for our swift movement down the court, allowing us with win 20-7. This final match left us top of our pool, a certainty into the semi final.
The semi final had us playing Bass Coast. Another tough match for us. Going goal-for-goal throughout the game, our boys managed to pull it together and come through with the win by 5 points. This win secured us a spot in the grand final.
The grand final stepped up to another level. Montmorency challenged us at every part of the court. Their height and swift movement made it difficult for us to play our game. We held our heads high and pushed as hard as we could. Unfortunately we were defeated by 10 points.
Every single member of our team played their best throughout the day and should be so proud of their accomplishments - 2nd in the state, what an amazing achievement!
