Primary School Carnival Day

Year 12 Celebrations

Primary School Carnival Day!

On Tue 23 August, Year 12 students paid tribute to their primary school education by dressing in their old primary school uniforms - and there was some very creative 'fittings' to be seen!

Assistant Principals, Marc Crilly and Andrea Edwards from Templeton Primary School and Assistant Principal Franca Nikolovski with Ms Georgina Ivanoff from Regency Park Primary School were our special guests, joining our Year 12s at lunchtime to acknowledge the significant impact that primary schools have had on Year 12 students’ educational journeys.

Following a special lunch, a couple of formal speeches and plenty of ‘class photos’, Year 12 students joined their teachers in schoolyard fun, playing games they may have played back in the day. The carnival fun culminated in a colour run.

Throughout our entire high schooling career, primary school dress up day has been an eagerly anticipated event for us as a cohort, and this year’s well and truly exceeded expectations.

It was really great to see everyone getting into the spirit of the day and all dressed in our respective primary school uniforms, and to be able to reflect on how far we've come as individuals.

The sausage sizzle lunch and primary-school inspired snacks of fairy floss and popcorn were a great hit, and the reconnections between students from the same primary school were truly valuable.

I personally enjoyed playing some of the playground favourites from back in the day; our whole-cohort game of Octopus brought a lot of laughs and was a moving reminder that adulthood is just around the corner now.

A big thankyou to Ms Le and Miss Lobriza is in order for being the dedicated organisers of this incredible day; we are so grateful for how cohesive and sentimental the day was and for the immense amount of planning that went into making primary school day the success it was.

An important part of graduating high school is recognising your roots and acknowledging the impact it's had on the person you are today, so thank you for giving us this special day to celebrate that.
