Musical Notes

Welcome to Term 2. What a start we have already seen with an amazing experience for 39 of our students being involved in Generations in Jazz.

Generations in Jazz

Over the weekend we had some wonderful results at Generations in Jazz. There were huge applause where the Blackfriars Staff and Students were seated when Vince Ravida was announced as a Super Band member for best lead trumpet in the entire division 3 (50 schools and over 200 students) on Saturday Night. Stage Band 1 came 6th and we were only the 2nd SA school who made top 6. Stage Band 2 were placed 11th and Senior Vocal 14th. We were very pleased with our results and proud of the boys.

Our students were inspired by amazing artists including Patti Austin, James Morrison and The Cat Empire. The Saturday night concert was a true highlight with all of our students standing up to enjoy the music, dancing and embracing the energy of the performers.

Our students were an exemplary representation of the Blackfriars values and opportunities such as this is what we pride ourselves on as a school community. I’d just like to formally thank all involved in making the weekend a success. Administration, Uniform Shop and Maintenance staff were all key to helping with the organisation. Mr Patrick Kelly and Mr Jak Francis for their utmost support throughout the weekend. Mrs Libby Hunter for her dedication, assistance, organisation and accompanying the Senior Vocal group on Piano during their performance.
