The Simpson Prize

Last year all Year 9 students completed an essay for the History Simpson Prize. The students answered the question: ‘Some historians have described 1917 as ‘the worst year of the Great War’ for Australia and Australians. To what extent is this an accurate statement?’

Students completed research from a range of primary and secondary sources and wrote an essay.

Both Frank Snelling and Simon Russell have received a Highly Commended Certificate for their efforts signed by the Federal Minister for Education and Training the Hon Simon Birmingham MP.

The letter from the Simpson Prize Competition Secretariat stated that ‘there were many great entries to the 2018 competition and Simon and Frank should feel encouraged by receiving this highly commended award’.

As a school community we congratulate the boys for the acknowledgement of their hard work.
