Brigidine Asylum Seekers' Project (BASP) Donations

With the staggered return of students back onsite at the College, we have also staggered the food drive for the Brigidine Asylum Seekers' Project (BASP).

Year 10 and Year 11 students have been asked to contribute this week to a food collection for asylum seekers in need.

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hamper Drive

Late next week will see the commencement of our annual St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hamper Drive with the Year 7, 8 and 9 students.

Each class will be designated a family for which they can bring in Christmas items. This collection is always well received by those families doing it tough at this time of the year.

Silent Auction

This weekend, one of our local parishes, St Mary of the Cross Aspendale/Mordialloc, are holding an online silent auction to raise much-needed funds for BASP.

There are 51 items and many of them are one off unique items. Bidding opens at 5.00pm on Friday 29 October and finishes at 5.00pm Sunday 31 October.

Sustainability

Our student group has recently said goodbye to our two Year 12 leaders who were preparing for their final VCE examinations, which are now underway. Skye Zhu-Maguire and Sophia Bryant have been inspiring leaders and have welcomed and included all the Sustainability Leaders into the group. They have achieved many things this year, including planning and getting approval to extend our vegetable garden and establishing the Garden Club, which ran every Wednesday at  lunchtime. They were also instrumental in starting the planning for our new habitat garden along the Mentone Parade border of the College.

Skye created some wonderful designs for our logos and signs. She also helped our group put together videos about recycling and waste management. Sophia’s enthusiasm and leading by example was a valuable addition to our group. We wish them all the best for their examinations and whatever comes next for them both!

We look forward to our group being able to meet in person next week! We will be promoting National Recycling Week from November 8 to 14. You can find more information HERE

We will also be looking at the Backyard Bee Census on November 14. Find out more information HERE.
