Paul Dillon Presentations

Each year as part of our Health and Wellbeing program, we host expert presenter Paul Dillon to talk with our senior students about staying safe and looking after friends if affected by drugs and alcohol.

Year 10

Paul Dillon spoke to our Year 10 students about safe partying and how to keep their friends safe if choosing to consume alcohol at any celebrations. He also talked to them about the only thing that will assist a person to sober up and that is time, not eating bread or taking a shower. He also reinforced when to call an ambulance if they think their friend needs help.

Year 11

Paul’s focus with the Year 11 students was recapping on his presentation from last year, building on strategies they had learnt and what they need to look out for if their friends are affected by cannabis or alcohol.

He focused on data relating to the teenage brain and research to suggest that a fully developed brain doesn’t occur for women until their mid 20s and for men, until their mid to late 30s.

Year 12

Paul spoke with our Year 12 students for their third and final time while they were onsite in their Homeroom groups. He addressed issues about keeping safe while driving on their 'P plates' and discussed the length of time alcohol needs to be absorbed by a young female liver to have a BAC of 0 before driving again. He also addressed the dangers of MDMA and how to keep friends safe.

We are so grateful that Paul could deliver his presentations online from Sydney and we look forward to seeing him in person in 2022.
