From the Principal

What a joy it has been to see and hear the excitement of students in Years 7 to 11 as they returned onsite after having last been at the College on Thursday 5 August.  No doubt there will be some tired students and staff by the end of the week as we re-adjust to full school days on site and interacting with so many people again throughout the day.

The announcement by the Victorian Government that students in Year 8, 9 and 10 would resume learning onsite full time earlier than originally advised, together with the easing of restrictions, has been wonderful news for all!  Hopefully, with the easing of restrictions we will be able to hold many of the events planned for the remainder of the term, culminating with the end of year celebrations.

Our virtual Year 12 Graduation Mass and Ceremony was a joyous celebration of the successful completion of secondary school by the Class of 2021. During Mass we gave thanks for all that the Class of 2021 has contributed to Kilbreda, the learning and growth they have experienced, the many opportunities they have had and, of course, the friendships they have made.  In our Graduation Ceremony, every student was individually acknowledged and presented with their Certificate of Graduation and gift.  Reflections on their time at the College were shared both through the speeches given and collection of photos displayed. Some of our graduates also shared their musical talent, delivering beautiful performances. Our graduates and their families also received a grazing box from the College to enjoy as they watched on and celebrated together at home.  Creating such an event and experience as this required the combined efforts of many staff and Year 12 students in the weeks leading up to it.  Thank you to everyone involved for making it such a special evening!

Our Year 12 VCE students and Year 11 students studying a VCE Unit 3/4 subject are sitting their written examinations over these next few weeks.  We wish them all the very best as they continue to prepare for and sit their examinations which they have been working towards all year.

Lord, pour out your Spirit of Wisdom on our students as they sit their final examinations.

Help them to remain calm, to attend carefully to the questions asked, to think clearly, to remember accurately, and to express themselves well.

Grant that they may reflect on the best of the work they have done and the best of the teaching they have received.

Accept their best efforts in these examinations and in the great test of life on earth.

May your love be upon them.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

World Teachers' Day

Tomorrow, Friday 29 October 2021, is the Australian celebration of World Teachers’ Day!

World Teachers’ Day recognises and celebrates the significant role that teachers play in shaping the lives of their students and their dedication to their profession. Over these last 18 months or so, our teachers have ensured that, despite major challenges, students at Kilbreda continued to receive a high-quality education together with tremendous support and encouragement.

We thank and acknowledge every teacher at Kilbreda for the significant commitment, effort and dedication they show towards the students in their care each and every day!
