Health and Physical Education

We’ve now been able to see all our students face to face at school even if just for a day here or there. We’re looking forward to having all our students back on-site full time. It will still bring many challenges but hopefully everyone is looking forward to being able to enjoy being in the class with their friends, interacting with one another and enjoying some laughs and fun. It will especially be enjoyable for our Physical Education classes to be able to do some activities with other people rather that just the individual types of activities that have been happening at home. They will be able to enjoy some team sports and group activities over the coming weeks.

Over the past few weeks our Year 9 Physical Education classes have participated in a self-defence program which hopefully has provided the students with some vital life skills that are essential for a young woman in tpday's society.

Our Year 7 classes have been having some fun taking part in the EMKFIT classes and then having the chance to make their own KFIT routines using songs and dance movements that they choose.

Over the next few weeks our Year 7 and 9 Health classes will be participating in workshops delivered by Elephant Ed. Our Year 7 students have been learning about the social, emotional and mental challenges associated with relationships, healthy and respectful relationships and sex, gender and gender norms. The workshop will cover gender stereotypes, gender identity and promoting acceptance and equality for all people and promoting an inclusive environment.

Our Year 9 students have been learning about respectful relationships, consent, the law of consent, rights and responsibilities of being in a relationship and gender-based violence. The workshop will discuss the moral and ethical dilemmas that come with sexual relationships, the preconceived ideas about sexual relationships and the equality and safety around sexual relationships.

Our VCE Health and Human Development, Physical Education and VET Sport and Recreation students have worked hard all year and are about to begin their examinations. We wish them well during their examinations.

This year studying Health has been super interesting. It has made it easier to understand the world we live in today (during COVID). It has provided me with essential knowledge about my own health and health in a national and global context.
