Year 11

Welcome Back

How wonderful it was to see all the Year 11 students returning to classes onsite last week. There was laughter and much chatting in the corridors (even if it was muffled behind their masks). They are to be congratulated for the way in which they have adapted to the ‘new’ school operating conditions.

Our Year 11 students spent the first part of the day reconnecting with their Homeroom in pastoral activities. This also enabled the Homeroom teachers to check in and ensure everyone was feeling calm about being back at the College. To support this, each group participated in some mindfulness activities and then spent time thinking about what brought joy to their lives; music, a quote, a fond memory; and then added them to post it notes to display. Having a visual reminder of these things can help us refocus on possibilities when we become overwhelmed.

Examinations

The examination period for those studying Units 1 and 2 subjects commences on Friday 12 November. An examination revision booklet was given to all the girls on Tuesday 26 October to support them to plan and prioritise what needs to be done to enable them to achieve success.

Student Leadership Team

An exciting Assembly took place in our Pastoral lesson this week where the Student Executive Leadership Team was announced. Congratulations to the following girls who have all accepted their positions after a very strenuous process involving a written application, a preliminary interview and then an interview with the College Principal, Ms Nicole Mangelsdorf. All this could not have been possible without the wonderful preliminary presentation outlining what makes a leader and the follow up process all coordinated by Ms Amanda Flynn.

Many thanks to the girls who applied. I have never seen such a strong and dynamic group to join our Co-Captains, Alice Merchant and Francesca Malignaggi.
