PERFORMING ARTS

This last fortnight has been a very busy one for the music faculty. Drama, Theatre Studies and the Musical Production students are working on their performance pieces, which we will present to you over term four. The VCE Music Performance classes are also working on preparing their end of year performances.

WINTER CONCERT

Thank you to all of the Music students and staff who took part in the first Winter Concert in three years on Wednesday 24 August. It was so positive to be able to share the work that we have been undertaking over the last few years. Every performer (staff and student alike) rose to the occasion - lifting their level of performance to a higher level. 

Special thanks to Lucy Angell and Ray Braniska for their work with equipment movement and stage management as well as Ellie Adler and Poppy Elliot for their ongoing support. Thanks also to all the ensemble directors who worked hard with their groups to raise the standards, and to our amazing Instrumental Managers Clare Bugeja and Dmitry Serebrianik for their tireless work in developing this fantastic night.

OVENDEN BAND AT VSMF

Congratulations to the Ovenden Band who performed brilliantly at the Victorian Schools Music Festival on Thursday 18 August. The level of commitment from all students was very high, and they should be highly commended on their performance. Thank you to James Morrissey, their director, and to Andrew Jacobs, Katarina Vrisk and Dmitry Serebrianik for attending the performance.

  • Thursday 15 September - Main Campus Cultural Diversity Week: Lunch time performance - Vocalists 
  • Friday 16 September - Sax Quartet at VCE Leadership Awards
