SCRATCH PROGRAMMING

In term 3, the Year 7s have been learning how to code using Scratch. As students learn how to code, they are developing their own computational and problem-solving skills. Scratch is a wonderful computer programming language to begin with, allowing children to program and share their own original stories, games and animations.

The Year 7s first learned how to create simple programs, such as programming a character to dance, spin and even follow the mouse. Students then went on to learn how to create games involving conditions to win and lose. Afterwards, we delved even deeper to create stories and animations. To finish the unit, the Year 7s participated in the Fairy Tale Animation Project to showcase their skills.

Here are our five winners in the 2022 Year 7 Fairy Tale Animation Project Competition:

GROK NCSS CHALLENGE

The NCSS Challenge started on Monday 25 July and finished on Sunday 28 August, it was a push to the end.

I would like to congratulate each and every one for participating and trying their best in completing as much as they could.  All students who completed the challenge can download their certificates to keep and store.

I’d like to further congratulate Siqiao Huang (Year 11) for his participation in the advanced challenge. His perseverance and positive attitude toward completing it were inspirational and awe-inspiring.  At the time of writing this piece, Siqiao is ranked 8th on the leaderboard. The skills are tested against other student programmers from around the world!
