Our Learning Weeks 2 & 3

During this fortnight in the 3-and 4-year-old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:

Pre-Reading: Identifying their names in written form.

Using the illustrations on the front cover of the book to cue them into what they story is about.

Giving a synopsis of the library books they have borrowed.

Pre-Writing: Writing their names on the sign in sheet on arrival.

STEM : Developing an understanding of the concept of size as they sort items into the categories small, medium and large.

Sorting and classifying items according to shared characteristics.

Inquiry : Our World, our future- developing an understanding of the impact our actions have on the environment now and in the future; understanding the concepts of reduce/reuse/recycle; imbed sustainable practices into their daily routine; become socially responsible and develop a respect for the environment.

Social & emotional learning : Learning conflict resolution skills and beginning to think about others, showing empathy.

Continuing to explore the Zones of Regulation to identify how we are feeling, what made them feel that way and implementing strategies we can use to return to the 'green zone.'

Celebration of learning

Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten.

Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten.

Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
