Prep Update

Our Preps have had a wonderful first two weeks back at school and have settled well into Term 2. We have enjoyed chatting about our holidays and being back with our peers to begin our learning again.
Our learning - Weeks 2 & 3
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):
-To identify communication skills that enhance relationships with people in the classroom and build positive relationships.
-To learn who can help them when they have questions or problems at school.
English:
-Our phonics lessons will be focusing on the sounds the letters ‘o’, 'd', 'g' and 'l' make and discover words and objects that begin with those sounds, as well as practising writing those letters.
-Saying words and identifying how many syllables there are in each by clapping and placing their hands under their chins, as well as discovering words that rhyme.
-Read and discuss fairytales and sequence the events within those stories.
-Students will make attempts to do their own writing in relation to picture prompts.
Maths:
-Continue to build our knowledge of concepts such as subitising, counting, number bonds, tally marks in our Maths Daily Review.
-Practise our number formation with digit-roads, explore addition and practise the 'counting-on' strategy.
Inquiry:
-Investigate how schools have changed over time and compare older schools to current schools.
Friendly Reminders:
-Students are required to bring their blue Reader bag to school daily to enable teachers to place new sounds being learnt in their phonics books, as well as checking in on students' knowledge of letter sounds.
-School hats - Students are not required to wear school summer hats during the cooler months. These will need to be worn again at the end of Term 3, till the end of year.
-Wednesday 14th May - The Fairytale Fiasco Incursion will be coming to Hillsmeade and our Preps will be attending. Just a friendly reminder for consent and payment to be given via Compass.
-Tuesday 20th May - Curriculum Day - students are not required at school.
