Year 1 Update

Our Learning Weeks 2 & 3
English | To identify and describe the features of non-fiction texts. To make self to world connections with the texts that we read. To read words that have the long i sound (_y, igh, ie) and long o (oa) sound. To write factual sentences about community workers. |
Maths | To partition numbers to 10 using ninja sliders (1 and 4 makes 5, 2 and 3 makes 5) To create double facts (3 and 3 makes 6) |
Inquiry | To research and understand the different types of communities and helpers that work in our community. |
SEL | To practise skills in peer helping. To work collaboratively with our peers. |
News and Reminders:
- Wednesday 7th May and Thursday 8th May- Mother's Day stall. If you wish your child to purchase something from the stall, please purchase a voucher through COMPASS. No money will be accepted during the day.
- Friday 9th May - Mother's Day and special others breakfast. Held in the gym or Basketball courts from 8:10am. There will be lots of yummy treats for everyone to enjoy.
- Tuesday 20th May- Curriculum day. No students required at school.
Celebration of Learning
During the first week of Term 2, students participated in a variety of engaging language activities. They crafted bubble wands and enjoyed blowing bubbles, tackled a ninja course, and created magic milk. Following these experiences, students wrote recounts to reflect on their activities.
