Year 3 Update

Our learning Weeks 2 & 3

English

In English, we are exploring figurative language by learning about alliteration and onomatopoeia. We are also reading and creating different types of poems, including haiku poems and shape poems. Additionally, we are focusing on building simple and compound sentences to strengthen our writing. We are continuing to practise our handwriting to develop consistent letter size and neat presentation.

Maths   

In Maths, we're learning about different addition strategies to help us solve problems more quickly. We're practising strategies such as doubles, near doubles, facts of 10, and build to 10. 

Inquiry

Our topic this term is Geography.

We are learning where Australia is located on a map and exploring its position in the world. We are also learning about Australia's natural landmarks and investigating important man-made landmarks.

Social and Emotional Learning

In Social and Emotional Learning, we are describing different strategies we can use to support our friends and seek help when needed. We are also learning about the importance of asking trusted adults for help when we face serious problems.

News and reminders 

Drink bottles: 

Please remember to bring a drink bottle to school every day. It saves disruption to your child's learning when this is accessible within the room. They are able to fill up their bottles in a nearby classroom.

School hats:

Students are not required to wear school summer hats during the cooler months. These will need to be worn again at the end of Term 3, till the end of year.
