Our learning Weeks 2 & 3

English

To analyse the language features and structures of different poems. Students are working towards understanding how poets create meaning and emotion in their writing.

Maths

Students are continuing to work through the addition unit, focusing on building a bank of strategies to solve problems, rounding and estimating.

SEL

Students will describe why it is important to seek help from an adult for serious problems and which problems are serious enough to mean that it is important to seek help from an adult.

Humanities

To identify what local councils do and explain how local government services benefit the community. Students are working towards creating a poster to share their understanding of a local government service.

Homework

Reading

We strongly encourage students to read every night. Please use their diaries to record their reading and ensure they are signed by a parent or guardian before returning to school.

Maths

We encourage students to regularly practice their times tables at home to build confidence and fluency. This will help them progress through their levels and strengthen their math skills by the end of the year.

Humanities

Students may receive a Humanities homework task to support their learning in class. We encourage families to have these conversations at home to help students deepen their understanding of identity and history.
