Student Leader Reports

This week, the Year 9 students went on their very first Choose Your Own Adventure camp, each lasting about a week. They were able to choose a camp out of several options. The three camps that ran this year were Reef to Rainforest, Urban Expeditions, and The Great Ocean Road Hike, all of which taught important life skills. They were all heaps of fun for everyone, providing plenty of bonding opportunities and encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones.
While this was happening, the Year 10s took part in work experience. During this period, they learnt about the responsibilities of having a job and what is required of them while doing so. It was a really insightful experience for them, helping them to get ready for work.
Not all Year 10s got to do work experience, though. A handful of them from the combined 9/10 Japanese class departed for Japan last Friday! There, they will be able to apply their knowledge in an exchange program with our sister school in Japan, live with a host family, and talk with the locals. Joining them is their Sensei, who will be able to provide help when needed. The Year 9s doing Japanese will be able to visit Japan when they are in Year 11, if they are still doing it.
All in all, it has been a very exciting week, from crazy hikes to working hard, and even Japanese mountains! It truly is a wonderful end to Semester 1, and we wish everyone a happy and safe break!
