Uniform Update Commencing in 2025!

NEW STYLE SHIRTS – NO TUCKING IN REQUIRED!

After much consultation with students and families, as well as discussion with our designers, we have updated the school shirt.

The new shirt will be available to purchase from the start of 2025 through Tara Uniforms. They are designed to specifically be worn outside of the skirt or trousers by the students and therefore do not need to be tucked in.

They also allow for the one tie to be worn by all students throughout the school.

Old style shirts will continue to be allowed to be worn throughout 2025 and 2026 should students wish to do so. They will however be required to be tucked in as this is their design.

New style shirts will be required to be worn by all students from the start of 2027 onwards.

All other items of the St George’s School Uniform remain the same.

When to wear your blazer

Today is the last day of wearing winter uniforms. Families are encouraged to check summer uniforms over the break, with a trip to Tara Uniforms, if necessary, prior to the commencement of Term Four. All students will still require their blazers every Monday and for significant formal events throughout the term, such as Year 12 Valedictory, Presentation Evening and Academic Awards Assemblies. All students will require their blazers on Monday, 14 October, for our Year 12 Academic Awards and Handover Assembly in Period 5. This includes Year 12 students who are not to wear their leaver’s jacket.

Mobile phone policy

Recently there has been an increase in the number of students who are not meeting expectations with their use of mobile phones whilst at school. The guidelines are clearly explained in the School’s Mobile Phone and Computer Use Policy that is available through SEQTA.

In summary:

  • Year 7 to 9 students are not to have their phones on their person. It is to be switched off and placed in their locker throughout the school day.
  • Year 10 to 12 students may have their phones with them, but they are only to be used in an emergency.
  • Mobile phones are not to be used in the stairwell or in the toilets.
  • Phones may only be used at school if express permission is granted or there is a special need through prior arrangement.
  • Mobile phones cannot be used to take videos or pictures of another person whilst at school.

Families are encouraged to discuss responsible mobile phone usage over the holiday break, so students return to Term 4 committed to meet these expectations.

Finally, families of Year 12 students are reminded to complete their rsvp for Valedictory on Wednesday 16 October. An invitation was recently sent out which contains a link to RSVP. This has a firm cut off time of 5pm, 7 October.
