From R.E.S.P.E.C.T to R.E.S.T

Students worked so hard in Term Three. Teachers were busy from Week 1 to Week 10. Everyone now deserves some holidayso that come Term Four, we are all rejuvenated. However, if you do not know how to rest, you will return from the holidays still feeling tired.

The Bible has a concept of resting called the Sabbath. It began with God himself resting on the seventh day after working for six days creating the world (Genesis 1). In Deuteronomy 5:12-15, God commands his people, including their children, animals, and foreigners living among them, to rest on the seventh day. In Exodus 23:11, even land must be given a year of rest in the seventh year.

During the holiday let us think of REST as an acronym:

R: REFLECT! Reflect on the successes and challenges of TERM 3. What can you do better next term?

E: ENJOY! Holiday is about having fun. It begins with appreciating simple things like the sun rising, feeling happy to be alive when the sea breeze hits you.

S: SLEEP! Holiday does not mean sleeping late every day because there is no school tomorrow. Even Jesus, the Son of God, the divine, needed some good sleep. So, during the holiday, catch up on your sleep!

T: TALK! One of the most therapeutic things for me is talking with friends and laughing with family. My closest friends and I can talk for hours, and guess what, sometimes about silly things! They say civilized people talk about anything really!

During school term we get so busy that sometimes there is no time to talk to friends or relatives. So, let us use the holiday to reconnect and have some nice conversations with our friends and family.

Have a wonderful holiday, remember to R.E.S.T!
