On Wednesday, 10th September, my vice-captain, Santtosh and I were invited to attend and represent Westall in a Youth Leadership Forum hosted by the Westall Community Hub. The two of us, alongside the primary school and South Oakleigh Secondary College, had constructive discussions on three main topics: the community, what it means to be a leader, and our future aspirations for our respective communities.
To conclude the discussion, we played a quick game “Zap” where we stood in a circle to pass ‘energy’ along by clapping our hands as well as saying the word ‘Zap’, hence the name. Shortly after, all of us were given a quick tour of the Hub alongside the library, introducing us to many of the clubs and activities that they have to offer, aimed at bringing the community of Kingston closer together. Overall, it was nice to see that many of the student leaders had views and ideas that closely aligned with ours. However, it was very refreshing to listen to what our counterparts from both schools believe is best for the Kingston community.
