Commercial Cookery Class
On Thursday 11th September the Commercial Cookery class visited the Mt Waverley Holmesglen TAFE . We were shown the commercial kitchen at service time being run by current TAFE students. They plated up spectacular dishes to the restaurant of around 50 guests. We were treated to a 3-course meal with professional service which was an experience for out students. After the meal we did a tour of the whole Hospitality area, including several kitchens, cool rooms, a huge freezer and dry store areas. Several of our students will be studying at the Holmesglen TAFE next year towards a career in Hospitality.

Aim High Camp
From 20th August to 22nd August, the Aim High Students, accompanied by Mr Tickner, Ms Papagiannopoulos and Mr Tran, embarked on a camp to our nation’s capital of Canberra.
Whilst there, students got to visit key national sites and monuments such as Parliament House and the Royal Mint.
Here are some of their recollections:
In my experience, I had a lot of fun going on this camp. The rooms we stayed in were amazing, and I made many cherished memories on this camp. We visited the Royal Mint, Questacon, the Anzac Memorial, the Mount Stromlo Observatory, the Art Museum, and Parliament House. I enjoyed the Mount Stromlo Observatory, as we were able to feel a meteor which was fascinating. We also enjoyed the shopping centre, with some amazing restraints. I would recommend going on this as it is an unforgettable experience! Mr Tran, Mr Tickner, and Ms P were very kind and helped us in any way possible.

Throughout the course of our 3-day camp in Canberra, not a single second was unlikable at all. Our days were packed with fun and educational events that taught us about our country, from history to the arts and even to the political landscape. In my opinion, the most fun thing about the camp was visiting Parliament House as we got to see the real location in which real people discuss potential laws that could affect us in the future. Overall, our trip to Canberra was an educational yet entertaining experience that everyone should have the chance to go through at least once.

The camp in Canberra was overall very fun, as we went to places such as Questacon, the Royal Australian Mint, the Australian War Memorial, The National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House and Mount Stromlo Observatory. We stayed at the Little Drifters hotel, and they gave us breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was delicious! But it was sad to go on Friday, but again, it was fun!

Thank you to parents and guardians for your support of our inaugural Aim High Camp! It was a great success, and we look forward to more Aim High events in future.
Coming up, we have our Inquiry Project Presentations towards the end of Term 4. Keep an eye out for this event, open to all members of our community, in the coming weeks!
Thank you,
The Aim High Staff

If you are interested in having instrumental lessons as school, talk to Mr Coco and he will talk to you about any questions you may have. The lesson time changes each week, so you don’t miss out on the same class every time. Lesson times are 35 minutes in duration.
Lesson fees are $100 for the year and an extra $100 for instrument hire. (For Drums, guitar/bass guitar or Piano/ Keyboard instrumental hire does not apply). If you are eligible for the CSEF (if your parents/guardians) have a Health Care Card, you don’t have to pay these fees. If you are unsure, ask Mr Tran at the front office.
Instrumental music enrolment forms may be collected from the front office or from Mr Coco or Mrs Mcalister (Instrumental Music room).
