Child Safe Standards at Sacred Heart

At Sacred Heart Primary School, the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of every child is our highest priority. To help our school community better understand how we create and maintain a child-safe environment, we will be featuring one of the Victorian Child Safe Standards in our newsletter each fortnight.

The 11 Child Safe Standards provide a framework for organisations working with children to promote child safety, prevent harm and ensure that children feel safe, respected and empowered. By sharing these standards, we hope to increase awareness, strengthen our partnership with families and highlight the important work taking place across our school to support the wellbeing of all students.

We encourage all families to take a few moments to read each feature and learn more about our ongoing commitment to child safety.

🛡️ Child Safe Standards Spotlight Week 1

Standard 1: Establish a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.

At Sacred Heart Primary School, we are committed to creating a culturally safe environment where the diverse identities and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people are respected and valued. We celebrate Aboriginal culture and work to ensure every child feels safe, respected and included.

Build and Grow Group:

Our Year 5 and 6 Build and grow group have now assembled and marked out where our new garden beds are going to be placed. We have had two groups of students tour Bunnings and with the help and knowledge of Tim from Bunnings we have now 8 garden beds to plant into. We are extremely grateful to Bunnings and their support for our school, and we can't wait to see what grows in our garden beds!

Chill Skills:

This week saw the end of another great term of Chill Skills, this time for our Gr 5/6’s. The group enjoyed the arts and crafts, the meditation, the story time, the laughs, the dancing and of course the ladies from Yarra Health! We look forward to offering this to our Yr 2 students' next term.
