Camp

We had a great time in Ballarat last week full of fun and learning … plus a visit or two to the lolly shop. We explored the underground mines, tried our hands at panning for gold, saw a gold bar worth $640 000 being poured, were treated to confectionary and candle dipping demonstrations and were lucky enough to attend the Aura light and sound show. Thanks to Mr Mullavey, Ms Bridgeman and Danni for coming along with us. Special thanks to Mr Carroll for organising the camp for us. It really was a fantastic 3 days.

These photos show just a few of the things we did ….

Inquiry

We have continued looking at important events in Australian history, in particular the events that led up to the Gold Rush of the 1850s and the influx of gold seekers to Victoria. We have been learning about gold mining, licences, the Eureka Stockade and the rebellion of the miners in preparation for our visit to Sovereign Hill. Next Thursday we will be holding our gold auction, where students will have the opportunity to bid on lots of different goodies using the karats they have collected by completing tasks from our gold rubric. It is sure to be lots of fun!!

Here are a few examples of the fabulous work that has already been completed …
