Soccer fever has hit Sacred heart Primary School and to celebrate we are going to be holding our own Mini World Cup. Students are going to be placed into a Country (team) and will play during recess/lunchtime. Our school captains for semester two Lola and Maisie have been busy working out a fixture so that our students can have some friendly competition during their recess/lunch breaks.

Regional Cross Country:

Congratulations to our seven runners who participated in the Hume Region Cross Country Championships in Benalla last week.

Jack, Levi, Sonny, Sophie, Annabelle, Ned & Stevie.

We are very proud of all your efforts and the way you represented Sacred Heart.

A huge congratulations though goes to Jack who managed to finish 5th in the U 9/10 Boys age group. Ned who finished 6th in the U11 Boys age group and Stevie who finished 5th in her U12/13 Girl's age group.

What an amazing achievement.

These students will now progress through to the State CrossCountry Championships which will be held in Melbourne at the Yarra Valley Racing Club on Thursday 16th July.

A huge congratulations to Jack Hawking (Year 5) who has made the final squad of 23 for the SSV U12 Football Carnival.

Jack has been named as emergency but is part of the squad of 23. Jack will have six training sessions in and around Melbourne before heading to the SSV Championships on the 2nd of August in Canberra.

This is an amazing achievement considering Jack is only in Year 5!

Congratulations Jack we are very proud of your efforts!!

Congratulations to Baylee Joyce (Year 6) who had a very early start a few weeks ago to attend SSV Soccer trials in Melbourne. Congratulations on your efforts Baylee from everyone at SHPS.

Congratulations to Annabelle Keneddy (Year 5) who had also been extremely busy with her representative sport. Annabelle has trialled for both Netball and Basketball at SSV level.

This was a fantastic opportunity for Annabelle to show her skills and talents in these sports.

We congratulate Annabelle for her efforts, and we wish her all the best in her next SSV Netball trial which will be held in Melbourne this week.

Wangaratta Winter Sports Day:

Next week selected Year 5 and 6 students will participate in the 2026 Wangaratta Winter Sports Day. Students will demonstrate their skills and teamwork within their chosen sports. (Netball, Football, Soccer and Tee ball)

We look forward to reporting back to our school community with results and pictures after the event.

Bike Education – Term 3 (Weeks 1–5)

We are excited to be running our Bike Education Program during Weeks 1–5 of Term 3 for students in Years 5 and 6.

The program aims to build students' confidence, skills and awareness when riding a bike, while developing their understanding of road safety and how to safely navigate different traffic environments. Throughout the program, students will participate in a range of practical activities designed to improve bike handling skills, decision-making, and safe riding practices.

To participate, all students are required to bring:

A bike in good working condition
Fully functioning front and rear brakes
Correctly fitted helmet

Before the program begins, we ask families to check that bikes are in safe working order, including tyres, brakes, chain and seat adjustments.

Bike Education provides students with valuable lifelong skills and encourages safe, active travel within our community. We look forward to seeing students develop their confidence and enjoyment of cycling throughout the program.
