Instrumental Music

A huge thank you to our Parents Association for its generous support this year, with grants that enabled us to purchase two portable sound systems. These were utilised at our Semester One Vocal Showcase and Back to the 80’s rehearsals.

We were also able to purchase a new drum kit through a Parents Association grant, pictured here with drum student Em Cole.

Em Cole is only in Year 7 and is our youngest student ever to have led the Rhythm Section on drum kit in a musical production. She was awarded her own personalised drumsticks in recognition of this achievement. Thanks to Oliver Hulls for the engraving.

I would also like to congratulate all 45 students involved in the orchestra for Back to the 80’s, who rehearsed every Wednesday before school from the beginning of the year to ensure they sounded fantastic performing 26 bangers from the 80s! A special shout-out to our Year 12s, Kit Creaney, Indi Lewis and co-captains Jasmine and Lucinda Buckle.

Lastly, a huge thank you and congratulations to Tony Hicks, our Music Director, who wrote additional parts to ensure all students could be involved, whether they were beginners or experienced musicians. Tony rehearsed and conducted the orchestra, successfully guiding students through a professional score.

We look forward to seeing you all at our various upcoming Semester 2 evening soirées and showcases in Term 4.
