Several weeks of preparation were required, during which all five students gave their time to collaborate, research France’s stance on this important topic and produce a three-minute spoken position statement to be delivered in front of their peers.

On the day of the conference, the position statement was delivered clearly and with confidence. All five students involved themselves fully in the moderated caucuses, defending and explaining France’s position, and the unmoderated caucuses, negotiating with other countries. They later proposed amendments to the draft resolution.

It was a great challenge for our students and a very enjoyable day.

Oh, and did I mention that the whole day was conducted in French? Oh là là!

On Saturday 1 August and Sunday 2 August 2026, Audrey Taylor and Tamara Tran from Year 9 took part in the 17th GOODTALK (Global Village) International Youth Bilingual Speech Competition. Despite an already demanding schedule filled with school musical and sporting commitments, our students rose to the occasion. They were paired with students from China to deliver a three-minute bilingual speech in Chinese and English. Both pairs performed outstandingly and each received a silver medal.

Congratulations, Audrey and Tamara!
