Sport News - Athletics

On Thursday 10th August, the Divisional Interschool Athletic Sports were held at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium. Craigieburn Secondary College joined 10 other schools in the region to contest track and field events.

Our school performed exceptionally well and students were vocal in their support of other team members. Individually, Ruby Eales (15 years) and Hannah Rowe (14 years) were the standout performers. Ruby won all three jumping events (high jump, long jump and triple jump). Similarly, Hannah won all three throwing events (shot put, discus and javelin). We wish both these girls good luck with their training as they prepare for the next round of competition.

As a team, every student should be proud how they represented themselves and our school community. A couple of highlights included Jarrod Spencer (Senior Boys) - this is Jarrod’s last year competing and he has always been a regular participant in the 3,000m event, Elias Treka (16 years) - for his brave effort in the 800m when he led for most of the race before diving at the line and Olivia Glass (15 years) who competed all day in multiple events.

Finally, a big thankyou to the staff who attended to support our students, particularly Miss Saccone who braved the elements to marshal at the shot put (it wouldn’t be the Athletic Sports without cold weather and some rain!).
