Year 11 News
Year 11 students have been working hard throughout term 3 and we congratulate them for their efforts. We have run numerous Year 11 assemblies where students have been encouraged to focus on their learning goals and strive to achieve their personal best. To compliment this, we have engaged Resilience Builders to facilitate a resilience program for Year 11 students during VSS classes. Dr David Buttifant and Isha Alhmoud from the Resilience Builders team introduced the program to students on Thursday 17th August. Information regarding the program is available at
VCE Vocational Major
To support Year 11 VCE Vocational Major students to develop their employability skills and prepare for future employment, students have been compiling their resume and cover letter and developing interview skills. The Hume Council Youth Services team recently ran a Virtual Reality Interview workshop at Craigieburn Secondary College for our Year 11 VCE Vocational Major students as part of their Work-Related Skills unit.
Using the Work Window virtual reality goggles, students were able to explore a range of careers without having to leave the school grounds. This technology allowed our students to explore careers in a really immersive and interactive way, which is quite different to how they would traditionally explore careers through online websites or information in brochures and booklets. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and allowed students the opportunity to apply the knowledge that they had learned in their Work-Related Skills subject to a simulated job interview experience.
