Chinese Model UN

In this year's Chinese Model United Nations, we as Chinese language learners had an excellent experience taking the roles of diplomats representing 3 different countries, debating Sustainable Cities Development Goals entirely in chinese!
The whole day was filled with teamwork, discussion and critical thinking; we worked to come up with new proposals and amendments, allowing us to strengthen our Chinese speaking skills through debating with other countries and giving speeches to establish our stances. This experience also enhanced our public speaking skills, confidence and collaboration in such an inclusive, fun and exciting environment, built for language learners to learn, make mistakes, and grow. Even when we are unsure, encouragement from peers and teachers made us feel confident and unafraid.
It was an amazing experience for all of us, being able to work with peers from different year levels from our school, also working with others coming from different schools, different backgrounds, but all here to create an inclusive, safe and motivating space of chinese learning among the excitement of international diplomacy. Even though we may be rival countries holding different values in the model UN, we all encouraged each other to do our best, taking another step forward in our language learning!
We look forward to continuing to build our confidence and Chinese skills through experiences like this!
