Northern Star Chess Regional Finals
We’ve been continuing our strong Northern Star season, finishing first in the Western Region at the Northern Star Chess Regional Finals! The tournament was hosted by Werribee Secondary College on Tuesday 8th September, with players competing for individual medals and a place at the State Finals.
Congratulations to:
- Simran Singh, President of the Chess Program, who earned the Year 11-12 Silver medal after finishing 4th overall on 6/7 points.
- Gian Abriam, who achieved the Year 11-12 Bronze medal on 5.5/7 points.
- Kevin Sun, Vice President of the Chess Program, who achieved the Year 11-12 Bronze medal on 5.5/7 points.
- Wyn Li, who achieved the Year 11-12 Bronze medal on 5.5/7 points.
It was fantastic to see our team continue its strong performance! Congratulations to everyone who represented Suzanne Cory, even making it this far is something to be proud of.
With the Regional Finals now complete, we will be turning our attention to the Northern Star State Finals at Xavier College in Kew on Friday 9th October. All players who scored 4.5/7 or higher at Regionals will progress to States, where they will take on the strongest school teams from across Victoria. Good luck to everyone competing, and let’s finish the season strong!
